How to Apply

These step by step instructions will guide you through all the steps you need to do to successfully submit an application for the Faculty of Engineering at the U of A through the University's centralized, online application.

Please Note:  These steps are for students applying into the Undergraduate Degree Program only. For students who already have a post-secondary degree and wish to apply for a Masters or Doctoral degree program, please consult our Graduate Studies page.

Step 1: Check admission requirements - Admission requirements for the Faculty of Engineering varies depending on whether you are a high school studentinternational student or transfer student.

Step 2: Check application deadlines - All applications for fall admission are due by March 1. Fall is the only intake for our program, so make sure to have your applications in by the deadline.

Step 3: Submit your application - Fill out the easy, online application today by visiting the U of A's central admissions website! You can also download a PDF version of the application and submit it either in person or via mail.

Step 4: Pay your non-refundable application fee - There is a non-refundable fee of $125 for all new students who apply to the U of A.  Applications are not considered complete until this fee has been paid. All online applications must be paid using either Visa or MasterCard at the time of submission.

Step 5: Ensure your online application has been received (online only) - A credit card receipt will be emailed to you within minutes of your online application being received. This receipt verifies that you have successfully completed your online application. 

Step 6: Check your email for important information - If you are a brand new student to the U of A, you will receive an email containing your Campus Computing ID (CCID), CCID Password, and your Student ID number. This information is very important and is required for logging in to the Bear Tracks Student Portal, logging into your new U of A Webmail account, and when applying for residence.

Note:  Transfer students or students with post secondary credit must also complete a Faculty of Engineering "Program Selection Form".  This form allows students to rank their preferences for admission to the various specialized programs.  You can access this form by visiting Program Selection Form.

Step 7: Check Bear Tracks and submit all official documents - Official document requirements will vary depending on whether you are a high school studentinternational student or transfer student. You must make sure that you are submitting all of the required documents by the document deadlines. Failure to submit these documents will result in the cancellation of your application. For a list of your outstanding documents and to verify that the U of A has received your documents please log on to the Bear Tracks Student Portal.
