Exchange Programs

Imagine being able to combine your U of A education with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to study around the world.

The Faculty of Engineering supports student participation in exchange programs with other universities in Canada and around the world with which the University of Alberta has formal exchange agreements.

Eligibility Guidelines for Student Exchanges

• Students must complete the second year of their specialized program before going on an exchange.
• Students must meet the following minimum cumulative GPA requirements. Cumulative GPAs are calculated over the last four academic terms.
• For Canadian universities: Ecole Polytechnique 3.3; other schools 3.0.
• For foreign universities: 3.3.
• For students currently in their second year, final approval for an exchange cannot be given until the grades are available from the Winter term.

Once you have met the eligibility guidelines, consult with your department to apply to participate in an exchange program.
