Complementary Studies Electives - Engineering Table II

Complementary Studies Electives

During the course of your engineering degree program you will be required to complete at least two, in some cases three, complementary studies electives.

One complementary studies elective must be taken at the 100 level; any additional 100 level complementary studies electives taken will not be considered for credit towards your degree. Your remaining complementary studies elective(s) must be taken at the 200 level. In some programs this will mean taking one course at the 200 level while in other programs it may mean taking two courses at the 200 level.

List 1 provides a selection of acceptable 100 level complementary studies electives.  List 2 provides a selection of acceptable 200 level complementary studies electives.  Qualifying year students who have questions about complementary studies electives should contact the Office of the Dean. Students who are already in a second year program should contact their department advisor with any questions about complementary studies electives.

A second course from the ITS List (84.6.1) may be taken as part of List 2.  However, a single course cannot cover both the ITS and Complementary Studies requirements.

Note: Courses that teach the application of a particular skill such as courses in physical education and music are unacceptable as complementary studies electives. Language courses fall into this category and are excluded.

*A single *3 ENGL course cannot satisfy both a Complementary Studies Elective and the English Elective requirements.

**Not available to Civil (Environmental Engineering Option) students.
