1.   Assignment #1

Evaluation of Assignments and Final Grade

Assignments can be submitted in class or at the Dean’s Office reception desk (6th floor ETLC) between the hours of 8:30am and 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, where applicable.  The Student Declaration and both assignments will be distributed in class and will also be available for download from the course eClass site.

No assignments will be accepted past the due date without prior arrangements or proper documentation (for medical emergencies, excused absences, or other circumstances deemed valid).

Graded assignments can be picked up at the Dean’s Office reception area (6th floor ETLC).  An announcement will be made in class when grading is completed.

You will receive one of two grades on your assignments:

Satisfactory – You have successfully completed this assignment as one of your required course components.

Unsatisfactory – You have failed to successfully complete the assignment.  You have not satisfied this required component and will fail the course.  If you wish to review your assignment or discuss your grade, you must make an appointment with Connor Harper within TWO WEEKS of the assignment being handed back.

You will receive one of two final grades in ENGG 101:

CR – You have successfully completed the course and received credit.
NC – You have failed to complete one or more of the required components in the course and have not received credit.  ENGG 101 is a requirement of your Engineering program and you must successfully complete it in order to receive your degree.

Final Exam

The final exam will be written during the final class period and will be based on the content of the presentations given in class during the semester (all presentations will be posted on the eClass site for review). You are required to achieve a grade of 70% or higher on the exam to successfully complete the final exam and receive credit in ENGG 101.

Deferred Exams

If you are unable to write the final exam due to incapacitating illness or other extenuating circumstances, you must contact Connor Harper within two business days of the exam and provide appropriate documentation supporting the reason for your absence.

The University of Alberta electronic communications policy is now in effect.  You are requried to check your U of A email account at least once per week as many improtant notices from the University and the Faculty will be sent to that account.  You may not recieve anything by post mail so it is essential to check your account regularly.  You can view the U of A policy here.
