Civil & Environmental Engineering Librarian in Residence
Research Assistance - Librarian in Residence: Information and Reference Service for Faculty, Graduate Students and Staff in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering.
A collaborative effort between the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the University of Alberta Libraries, “Librarian in Residence” brings the information and reference services of the Cameron Science & Technology Library to all faculty, students, researchers and staff in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering.
Civil & Environmental Engineering Librarian Jerry Kowalyk will be available throughout the academic year:
Location: NREF 3-142
Days and Times: Mondays and Wednesdays 1:00-3:00 p.m. Fridays by appointment, arranged via email
Background: The University of Alberta Libraries is increasingly making available in electronic format the major reference materials, series, conferences, and texts in engineering and related fields. This includes standards and patents. As a result, the engineer is able to do most research from the desktop rather than from within the library.
The University of Alberta Libraries recognizes that it is therefore all the more important to develop strong research skills, and provides an opportunity for scholars and students working in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering to consult with its librarian about finding information resources to support their projects and assignments. This initiative enhances the relationship shared between the Faculty of Engineering, the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, and the University of Alberta Libraries and helps scholars and students to make the best use of library resources.
For more information, or an appointment, please contact Jerry Kowalyk at 780.492.7905 or email to: jerry.kowalyk@ualberta.ca.
