The University of Alberta has offered undergraduate courses in Construction Engineering and Management since 1986 and graduate degrees since 1991. This exciting division of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Alberta has always worked to meld the best of the academe with that of the construction industry, pushing both research and industry to their fullest potential. This is why the Construction Engineering and Management (CEM) group is so proud to host the NSERC Industrial Research Chair in Construction Engineering and Management, the Canada Research Chair in Operation Simulation, and the Steacie Fellowship all held by Dr. S.M. AbouRizk. While the research Chairs and the Fellowship clearly promote research and the relationship between research and industry, they also create unique opportunities for students to be actively involved in groundbreaking research and, importantly, industry-related research. This not only fosters learning, but also gives the students skill sets and contacts that will last a lifetime.
