Programs for Kids
The Faculty provides inventive programs for kids to cultivate their sense of curiosity, giving them memorable experiences that encourage them to explore engineering, science and technology.

DiscoverE
DiscoverE is a student-delivered initiative of the Faculty of Engineering with a focus on fun, accessibility and mentorship. DiscoverE delivers high-impact classroom workshops, unique clubs and events, and engaging summer programs that bring the excitement and possibilities of engineering, science, and technology to 20,000 youth every year.
GEM Club
The Girls, Engineering, and Mentorship (GEM) Club fosters an interest in science and technology in young girls from Grade 3 - 8 helping them gain the confidence to succeed in the classroom and beyond. Under the guidance of female Engineering students, GEM girls take part in hands-on challenges, laboratory visits, mentor presentations, and group and individual projects that build practical skills for science and engineering.
CO2 Car Race Championships
Every year students from junior high schools across the city compete in the CO2 Car Challenge, coordinated by the Faculty of Engineering and its DiscoverE outreach group. Students are challenged to design and build cars powered by CO2 cartridges--these speedy little dragsters reach speeds approaching 90 km/h. The victors win Faculty of Engineering hoodies and tours of our teaching, learning and research facilities.
