Graduate Students

The University of Alberta Faculty of Engineering is home to a vibrant community of scholars committed to teaching and research at the highest levels. The faculty is internationally recognized and ranks among the top 5 per cent of more than 400 engineering schools in North America, with approximately 4,400 undergraduate and 1,600 graduate students.

The Faculty of Engineering is consistently recognized as one of the best in Canada and the world. In the 2014-15 QS World University Ranking, the U of A Faculty of Engineering was among the top 100 universities in the chemical engineering and civil and structural engineering subject rankings.

The University of Alberta overall is strongly positioned, ranking 84th worldwide and 5th in Canada in the 2014 – 2015 QS World University Rankings, and among the top 150 in the world in the 2014 Shanghai Jiao Tong Academic Ranking of World Universities.

With a growing number of professors, the Faculty continually recruits new graduate students. Many exciting opportunities exist at the Master’s and Doctoral levels. The benefits of earning a master’s (MSc, MEng, or joint MBA/MEng) or doctoral degree (PhD) in Engineering are higher salaries, and greater professional responsibility and satisfaction as a result of greater knowledge.

Code of Student Behaviour
Students are required to familiarize themselves with the Code of Student Behaviour to avoid falling into academic misconduct and to continue in good academic standing.
