Research

Research plays an important role in our Faculty’s mission—to produce nationally and internationally recognized research and to educate graduates who are capable of carrying out leading-edge research. Interdisciplinary research is a hallmark of the Faculty of Engineering. Our local, national and international partnerships with industry, government agencies and donors enable the Faculty to create new knowledge that has an impact on the world around us.

Our research specializations fall into four major categories: Biomedical Engineering and Bioengineering; Energy, Natural Resources, and the Environment; Information and Communications Technologies; and Nanotechnology and Interfacial Engineering.

The Faculty of Engineering takes the safety and well-being of students, staff, faculty members and guests seriously. Leading-edge teaching and research involves hands-on work in shops and laboratories and every measure is taken to provide a safe and secure environment in which we teach, learn and discover. Visit the Faculty of Engineering Health & Safety website for important information on safety procedures, training and events.
