Research Highlights

 The Faculty of Engineering is among the five or six international leaders in nanotechnology and interfacial engineering, biomedical engineering, information and communications technologies, and energy and natural resources engineering.

 

 The Faculty of Engineering received $52 million from external sources for sponsored research.


 The Faculty of Engineering hosts:

  • 16 Canada Research Chairs
  • 12 Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Chairs
  • Three Foundation Supported Chairs
  • Ten Endowed Chairs and Professorships

 No other engineering faculty has a higher number of NSERC Chairs or Steacie Fellows.

 

 The National Institute of Nanotechnology is one of the top five nanotechnology centers in the world.

 

 The Chemical Engineering program is the top program in Canada by a wide margin and is in the top 5% in North America. This ranking is against 177 programs in both the U.S. and Canada. This ranking is based on total refereed publications over a 5-year period as listed in the Science Citation Index of ISI.
